Why do I need to be saved?

Because we are all sinners…

Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"

Because one day we will die…

Romans 6:23 - "For the wages [payment] of sin is death…"

Because we want to go to heaven to spend eternity with our Lord and in order to do this, you must be born again…

John 3:7 - "Ye must be born again." [Jesus speaking to Nicodemus about what he must do to enter Heaven.]

How can I be saved?

Realize that God loves you regardless of your sin…

Romans 5:8 - " . . . God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"

John 3:16 – "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

1 John 4:10 – "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins."

Realize that Jesus sacrificed himself for you on the cross, paying the price for all of your sins…

II Corinthians 5:21 - " . . . He (God) hath made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us . . . that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him"

1 John 2:2 – "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world."

Realize that it is a gift that we could never earn, but simply must accept…

Ephesians 2:8 – "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:"

Romans 6:23 – "For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Accept God’s gift of salvation…

Romans 10:9-10 – "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Acts 16:30-31 - And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

It takes an inner decision and an outward confession. Believe that Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross and that God has raised him from the dead. And confess that Jesus is your Lord and Saviour.

Congratulations! You have just made Jesus your Saviour by believing and confessing Romans 10:9-10. It’s that simple. But how do I make him Lord? We make Jesus Lord by deciding to "repent" or turn away from our old lifestyles. We decide that he is now our boss and that we don’t need those old habits. God’s Word says that we become a "new creature"… that we "put off the old man" and put on the new. We have a new calling, a new "citizenship", a new outlook on life. We know that we are now going to Heaven and there is nothing that Satan can do about it. Praise God for that! There is a celebration for you in Heaven even as we speak.

Questions...

Do I need to be baptized in water to be saved?

No. You may be surprised. But we just saw from God’s Word that we are saved by accepting God’s gift of salvation and that we only have to believe it and confess it. So why should we be baptized? Because Jesus did it and is our example. We are to be followers of him. So just as he made the decision to be baptized by John the Baptist, we also make a conscious decision to follow him in believers’ baptism today. It is a witness to the church of your faith and dedication to being a disciple. And it is symbolic of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Just as he died and was raised up from the dead, so too do  we become truly alive when we accept God’s salvation.

What does the Bible mean when it says that we are made alive or made a new creature when we become born again?

God created Adam as a three-fold creature; body, soul and spirit. Adam’s body was formed from the dust of the earth. His soul was his nephesh, or "breath-life" that the Bible states God breathed into Adam to make him a living creature. And Adam’s spirit was that "inner man" that God created in Adam, allowing him to have fellowship with his Creator. Because of Adam’s disobedience of God in the garden of Eden, we are all born with sin-nature in our blood and we are all born only with a body and a soul. Since sin-nature was in our blood, blood was required to cleanse us from sins. Through the centuries, the Hebrew people sacrificed animals for this purpose. But Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. His perfect and sinless blood paid the price for all of humanity. When we accept the gift of salvation that is a result of Jesus’ sacrifice, we also receive the gift of Holy Spirit. We have an "inner man" now, a new you. We are literally made alive again by God’s perfect gift. We are sealed until the day of redemption, better than any mason jar or can. The Bible calls it "incorruptible seed" and our "token of salvation". We have "Christ within" and can now "do all things through Christ which strengthens us".

What is next?

First and foremost, get into a fellowship of like-minded believers. We know just the place! You can contact us by calling us at 407-273-3000 or e-mail us at info@lbcorlando.com. It is very important that you go somewhere that you can receive instruction, encouragement, and accountability. If that doesn’t work, he will attempt to steal your joy through pressure. Having a body of believers to instruct you, support you, pray for you, and give you words of encouragement and strength will help you to stand.  After all, you will be spending eternity with your brothers and sisters in Christ.  Why not start getting to know them now?
